Misal, this Maharashtrian dish is my all time favorite. The best part about this recipe is its simple and can be made at anytime of the day.

INGREDIENTS

2 cups sprouted matki (moath beans)

1 tbsp oil

1 teaspoon jeera (cumin seeds)

1/2 teaspoon haldi (turmeric) powder

1/2 teaspoon dhania (coriander) powder

1/2 teaspoon red chili powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoon lemon juice

2 tablespoon chopped cilantro

1/2 cup chopped onion

1/2 chopped potatoes (uncooked)

1 cup chopped tomatoes

2-3 garlic cloves

2-3 green chilies

PREPARATION 

Step 1

Grind chopped tomatoe, onion, garlic and green chilies into a fine paste.

Step 2

Heat oil in a pressure cooker and add cumin seeds.  When the seeds crackle add the onion and tomato paste and saute on a medium heat for 2-3 minutes. Add turmeric, red chili and coriander powder and let it cook for another 2-3 minutes.  Add chopped potatoes, salt and mix well.

Step 2

Add sprouted matki and 2 cups hot water into the pressure cooker. Mix well and pressure cook for 3 whistles.

Step 3

Add lemon juice, chopped cilantro to the cooked sprout mixture. When serving sprinkle with farsaan, chopped onions and lemon wedges. Pav or slice of wheat bread on the side.
